Grayland Beach State Park - Westport, WA

We spent 2 days last weekend camping at Grayland Beach State Park near Westport, WA. The park was completely booked up for the President's Day weekend, but it was relaxing and we had a couple of cloudless clear days to boot! It was about a 3 hour drive from our house but the drive was easy. Westport is usually known for a steady breeze, so I picked up a couple of stunt kites for the beach. Unfortunately, there was little to no wind for kite flying. It was fun trying though.

We stayed in one of the full hookup sites which are tucked back in the trees about 5 minutes from the beach. The site we stayed in was a little muddy in areas. My guess, is that you could have mosquito problems in the summer due to the amount of standing water in the wooded areas. When I go again, I'll be reserving one of the water/power hookup beach front sites instead. If you like yurts, then they have those also. Those sites are much nicer and right near the beach. The beach front end of the park doesn't have sewer hookups, just water and power. But that's no problem if your just staying for a couple of days. If you need it, there is a dump station on-site.

There are plenty of paved roads for riding bikes and skate boards. The restroom facilities are clean and setup as indivual rooms. There are 4 unisex rest rooms and two shower rooms per building.

See the slide show on the right for pics. We will definately be going back.
