Story
For many years we've taken the RV to Richland, WA in September for a weekend of wine tasting with friends. One year, we decided to wake up early and drive an hour to nearby Prosser, WA where they have the annual Prosser Balloon Rally. None of us had ever been to a balloon rally before so we were all excited. Then the organizer in our group said "we've got to get up at 5AM in order get there before sunrise." Uuhh what?
Getting up at 5AM on Saturday morning, was the hardest part. We all rallied though, got some coffee, and made it to a small airport in Prosser by 6AM. It was still dark...and cold. We parked, and followed the rest of the folks to this open field. Pretty soon, trucks and trailers started showing up to unload their balloons.
It was really cool to talk to the pilots as they set up their balloons. They were very willing to chit chat with you as they got setup. As the sun started to rise, we found ourselves surrounded by all the vibrant balloon colors. Then one-by-one, they started rising up into the air and floated away.
It was worth the early wake up. The balloon rally was a pretty cool experience and costs nothing. You just show up. There are balloon rallies all over the country. Take your RV out and check one out.

Happy RVing!
