On Saturday we participated in the 5 mile Skagit Valley Tulip Run. The run is part of the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. If you are ever in Western Washington in April and have a chance to check out the tulip festival, you should do it. There are lots of colorful tulips to see. Click here to see photos.
It turned out to be a great event. Our friends came out with us -- some to run and some to cheer and take pictures.
We awoke early Saturday morning to get to the Tulip Run by 8AM and found the windshield on our CRV to be covered with frost. We were dressed in our running gear and we were a bit cold. After clearing the windshield we were off with the heater cranked up.
It was still chilly when we arrived but the sky was clear and the sun was starting to warm everything up. We got signed in and, with the other 1000 or so runners, waited anxiously at the starting line of the 5 mile run.

Once the run got underway, we weren't cold anymore. The run took us down the road near the airport, then through the woods on a series of trails. The final stretch led us back towards the starting point to the finish line.

Following the run we returned to our motorhome back in Fidalgo Bay to relax and enjoy the remainder of the day with friends and some yummy BBQ. All in all, it was a fantastic weekend. All of us enjoyed Fidalgo Bay and plan to return for another visit. The weather on our drive home was spectacular. I wish we could have stayed just one more day.
Looks like a beautiful site. Enjoy your stay and congrats on your run...
ReplyDeleteThanks. We had a strong finish and are fellin pretty good about it. It's decent here, clear skies, but a little cool with the breeze blowing.
