Arrived in Vegas

By on Sunday, March 30, 2008

We've arrived in Vegas and are all hooked up. It was a long day of driving but not too bad. It was very pretty going through the desert but it was pretty windy as well. Traffic was ok going in our direction but I-15 Southbound looked like a nightmare. It was backed up for around 100 miles leaving Vegas and heading towards LA.

We got checked in at the Oasis RV Resort but are a little dissapointed with some missing amenities. The shuttle bus we were counting on from the park to the strip has not been working for about a month. There is no other option except taxi. Also, the WiFi is not available in many areas of the park so we had to move (upgrade) to another spot that should have a better signal. As it turns out the signal is worse that the original locations. Finally, the WiFi can only be setup on a single computer. We have 3 computers between us -- I know -- that's just how we roll. Nevertheless, we're here and anxious to head into town. Talk soon. --- Thanks for all of the comments. -T

  1. Sorry to hear about the problems at the park. We've experienced that kind of disapointment a few times over the years but luckily not that often. enjoy your stay in sin city.

  2. Sounds like some letdowns so far. Now worries - You're there now and the fun can begin! Hope you have GREAT time! We've had our share of snow (didn't stick) and wind here over the past few days so you're definitely in a better place then us! Give the family a BIG HUG from ours. Haramaki

  3. Oh No! Sorry to hear about the disappointements - Sounds like we may have led you astray. We enjoyed that particular location - but in hindsight - we didnt really "hang out" at the park and only briefly used the internet near the pool. Seems they should have told you about the shuttle service - : ( Now that your there - I guess its time to make the best of it. I cant wait to hear how your kids reacted to the size of the hotels and attractions there. Have a great day checking out the sights and look forward to reading more about your adventures later - T

  4. All in all, the park was pretty decent. We didn't renew the WiFi after the first day because it was 6 bucks per day and we weren't around anyway. The posts I sent were from my phone. I had a chance to look around the whole park and it's huge, clean and nice overall. There are so many super nice large rigs there. We were parked really close to the clubhouse and at 7:40 on the dot each day, the yard crew would break out their leaf blowers right behind our RV and start cleaning the parking lot. That was my wake up call each day.

We thought of moving to the KOA by Circus Circus, but they wanted about $25 bucks more per day (around $75). We saw it from the road and it looked like a giant black top parking lot behind the casino. No thanks. We stayed put.

The least enjoyable part of the Vegas stay was having to pay about $20 each time we got in a cab to go to or from the strip. -T
